Lucknow Super Giants a.k.a. LSG are the latest entrants in the Indian Premier League alongside Gujarat Titans. The franchise came into existence after the conclusion of the IPL 2021 and ahead of the 15th edition of the marquee league and they have a ten-year contract with the BCCI.

Sanjiv Goenka bought the franchise through the bidding process in a draft organized by the apex board of Indian cricket in October 2021. History was rewritten as LSG became the costliest IPL franchise ever.

The Super Giants are based in the city of Nawabs – Lucknow. The franchise had a great debut as under the leadership of stylish KL Rahul they finished third in the points table to qualify for the playoffs in their debut season. However, they could not go ahead after losing the Eliminator to Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Lucknow Super Giants signed the Indian opener KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi in the draft ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auctions. Subsequently, they also announced that the stylish KLR would be the captain of the franchise.

In 2022, Sanjiv Goenka of the RPSG group is the current owner of Lucknow Supergiants. He has a contract of ten years with the BCCI; hence he is likely to build a big brand around the franchise as he has bought it at such a massive amount.

Since 1899, the RPSG group is primarily in the energy business and has been providing power to multiple regions across the nation. They also venture into renewable energy in four different states of India and they currently boast a power generating capacity of 2400 MW.

In 2022, Lucknow Supergiants are the 4th most valuable franchise in the Indian Premier League according to Forbes. As per the latest report from Forbes, LSG are currently valued at $1.075 billion.

They were the new entrants in the league, hence, their revenue and operating income haven’t been revealed yet.
