LLC 2023: Sreesanth sends Martin Guptill packing with deadly outswinger

Former Indian paceman Sreesanth who plays for Gujarat Giants in Legends League Cricket (LLC) 2023 hogged the limelight after he got rid of Urbanrisers Hyderabad batter Martin Guptill with a vicious outswinger in the 8th match at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Dehradun.

The incident took place in the second ball of the 2nd over of Urbanrisers Hyderabad’s innings when Sreesanth bowled a delivery that was moving away from Martin Guptill. The right-handed batsman attempted to hit the ball for a boundary but ended up getting an outside edge in the followthrough.

Martin Guptill who was batting on 1 attempted to play a shot but was outsmarted by Sreesanth’s outswinger as the ball travelled towards wicketkeeper Dhruv Raval who completed a one-handed catch by diving fully towards his right.

Sreesanth outsmarts Martin Guptill with a gem of a delivery

Martin Guptill played right into Sreesanth’s hands and ended up getting dismissed for a cheap score. He made his way back to the dressing room after failing to produce a spark at the top. The team benefitted from Dwayne Smith and Peter Trego as the duo scored a fifty apiece. Despite their best efforts, the team fell agonizingly short in the end as they lost by a run.

Sreesanth was the pick of the bowlers for Gujarat Giants as he kept the opposition batsmen in check in clutch moments of the game. The right-arm fast bowler used all his experience to better effect as he successfully defended 14 runs in the last over to guide Gujarat Giants to a thriller win.

Batting first, the Gujarat Giants posted a humongous total of 193/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Richard Levi scored 49 off 19 balls wherein in struck 6 fours and 3 hits over the fence at a strike rate of 257.89. Sreesanth was adjudged the Player of the Match for his bowling heroics as he registered 2/38 in 3 overs.
