“KL Rahul is the official owner of Mumbai Indians” – Twitter goes in a frenzy as the batter smashes his 2nd century of the season
KL Rahul – a class apart. The stylish batter from Karnataka has been the most consistent player in the IPL over the last few seasons. This season, however, he started slowly before picking up the pace.
The Lucknow Super Giants’ skipper registered two ducks unlike his usual stuff before he roared back in form with a century against Mumbai Indians. Since then, KL Rahul has managed to keep up his good form and climbed up to 2nd place in the orange cap race behind ridiculously good Jos Buttler.
Lucknow Super Giants are taking on Mumbai Indians in the reverse fixture on Sunday evening. In the search of their first win, Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited KL Rahul & co. to bat first.
The Super Giants started slowly on a sluggish pitch as Jasprit Bumrah scalped Quinton de Kock early. Rahul also was slow to get off the blocks as he scored the first 25-odd runs at a strike rate of a hundred.
However, nearing the halfway mark, the Indian opener pressed his foot on the pedal to complete his fifty off 37 deliveries. From there, there was no turning back as the skipper went on to smash his 2nd century of the season off 62 deliveries.
KL Rahul held one end together, as he kept losing wickets at the opposite end. In the end, he remained unbeaten for 103 runs off 62 deliveries while Lucknow Super Giants could only post 168/6 in 20 overs.
It was Rahul’s second century of the season against five-time champions along with his superb prior record against the same team. KL Rahul has now posted 368 runs in 8 matches this IPL season at a strike rate of 147.79.
With his century, social media goes into a frenzy as the fans lauded the special effort from the stylish batter. They also pointed out his incredible scoring form against Mumbai Indians.
