“Khatam Tata Bye-Bye” – Twitter explodes as India crash out of Asia with Pakistan’s nail-biting win over Afghanistan
India and Afghanistan are out of the Asia Cup 2022
Phew!!! What a thriller we have just witnessed! Pakistan never fail to amaze us. They are an expert in turning easy matches into tense thrillers. The Men in Green registered a narrow one-wicket win over Afghanistan to advance to the final of the Aisa Cup 2022. With this win, Afghanistan and India have officially crashed out of the multi-nation event.
On Wednesday, Pakistan met Afghanistan in the Super-4 game of the Asia Cup 2022 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. It was a must-win game for Afghanistan to stay alive in the competition. Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s win would have given India an outside chance to stay in the final’s race.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the vital toss and invited Mohammad Nabi & co. to bat first. Afghanistan didn’t have a great day with the bat as none of their batters could really score big. While there were some vital small contributions, no batter could contribute significantly. In the end, Afghanistan could only manage 129/6 in 20 overs.
Chasing the total, Pakistan lost their skipper Babar Azam for a golden duck on the 2nd ball of the innings. Fakhar Zaman followed his skipper to the pavilion soon and then Afghanistan managed to scalp the prized wicket of Mohammad Rizwan in the 9th over. Afghanistan were truly back in the game but a vital partnership between Iftikhar Ahmed alongside Shadab Khan brought the Men in Green back in control.

Shadab Khan counter-attacked their opposition with some attacking cricket. Pakistan were cruising to victory but again they lost wickets in heaps. With 11 runs required in the final over and one wicket in hand, it looked like Afghanistan’s game to win. However, Naseem Khan smoked two maximums off two deliveries to win the breathtaking game for his nation.
