Jason Roy is likely to miss Pakistan tour and upcoming T20 World Cup
As per the latest developments, the swashbuckling English opener Jason Roy is likely to miss the flight to Pakistan for the upcoming tour. England cricket team is all set to tour Pakistan for the first time since 2005. Meanwhile, Roy could miss out on the tour as the team management has decided to drop him from the squad courtesy of his poor run with the bat. The situation has worsened for the opener as he might also be dropped from England’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.
On Friday, the selectors will announce the T20I squad for the Pakistan tour. The skipper Jos Buttler will miss the historic tour with an injury and Moeen Ali is likely to lead the English side. However, as per reported by ESPNCricinfo, Jason Roy has already informed his teammates about his exclusion from the squad. The right-handed batter has struggled to score runs throughout the summer and it looks like the selectors have finally decided to axe him.
Jason Roy’s poor run continues in the Hundred, the selectors look to bring in new faces
With the T20 World Cup around the corner, the selectors do not want to take any risk and the move makes a lot of sense at the moment. The 32-year-old opener has failed to get back to his best during the ongoing the Hundred. Playing for Oval Incvincibles, Jason Roy has scored only 51 runs in 6 matches at a woeful average of 8.50, including three ducks.

Meanwhile, Phil Salt and Will Jacks are in the line to grab the place of Jason Roy in England’s T20I side courtesy of their consistent performances in the domestic circuit. Will Jacks is the 2nd-highest run-getter in the Hundred 2022 with 261 runs in 7 matches, including a century and two half-centuries.
Talking about the Pakistan tour, the English red-ball skipper Ben Stokes alongside Jonny Bairstow is the other high-profile name to sit out of the upcoming series.
