As per the latest developments, the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has requested everyone to stop the comparison between MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant. Ever since MS Dhoni has retired from the international cricket, the Men in Blue are searching for a worthy successor of the legend. The Delhi-born youngster Rishabh Pant has emerged as the main contender to replace him and in fact, it won’t be exaggerated to say that he has already eclipsed Dhoni in the Test arena.

However, there are still plenty of questions unanswered in white-ball cricket. Rishabh Pant’s inconsistency with the bat in the ODIs and the T20Is alongside the wrong inputs during the vital DRS decisions have raised question marks over his ability to replace MS Dhoni.

Now, the BCCI president has come ahead and defended the youngster by saying that he would improve with time.

“Don’t compare Rishabh Pant with MS Dhoni” – Sourav Ganguly

“Don’t compare Pant with MS Dhoni. Dhoni has so much experience, has captained in 500-plus games in IPL, Tests and ODIs. So, it’s not fair for Rishabh to be compared with Dhoni,” said Sourav Ganguly in a promotional event on Tuesday.

The former India skipper also praised the SRH young pace sensation Umran Malik and said he has a future with the Indian team.

“His future is in hands. If he stays fit and bowls at this pace, I’m sure he will be around for a long time. Many have played well in this IPL. Tilak (Varma) has done well for MI. Rahul (Tripathi) for Sunrisers, Tewatia for GT,” said Ganguly.

The BCCI president also talked about how Indian Premier League provide the right platform for the talent and helps the Indian cricket in finding the new gems.

“We have seen many emerging fast bowlers like Malik, Mohsin Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan… It’s a place where talent gets exposure,” concluded the former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly.
