What is it with Chennai Super Kings and their yellow jersey? It has some sort of Midas touch as whoever wears it, they start performing at the best of their abilities. The latest name on the list is Ajinkya Rahane. CSK signed the batter on the base price of INR 50 lakh after Rahane had a forgettable season with Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2022. However, the right-handed southpaw delivered on his debut for CSK in a high-octane game against Mumbai Indians.
Ajinkya Rahane smashed the fastest fifty of the IPL 2023 after reaching the milestone off just 19 deliveries. He made a mockery of the Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack to push his team towards a massive victory. On Saturday, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings reignited the fiercest rivalry of the IPL as the two teams met at the Wankhede Stadium in the 12th match of the IPL 2023.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and invited Mumbai Indians to bat first. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan gave the Blues a flying start but their middle order once again failed after the openers went back to the pavilion. In the end, the hosts could only post a below-par total of 157/8 in 20 overs on a wonderful batting track.

Ajinkya Rahane marks his CSK debut in style
Defending the total, Mumbai Indians needed a quick wicket and Jason Behrendorff removed Devon Conway on the 4th ball of the innings without opening the account. However, what follows next stunned the home team. Ajinkya Rahane came out to bat at number three and took the attack to the opposition from the very first ball.
In the process, the senior batter reached his half-century off just 19 deliveries. He was dismissed by Piyush Chawla but not before scoring 61 runs off 27 deliveries, including seven boundaries and three maximums. When Rahane got out, CSK needed only 76 runs off 72 deliveries.
The fans could not contain their excitement after seeing Ajinkya Rahane in such a devastating form as they let their feeling known through Twitter.
