The former RCB skipper Virat Kohli had an amazing day at the office as he smashed a brilliant century against Sunrisers Hyderabad to take RCB closer to the playoffs. On Thursday, RCB squared off against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad in the 65th match of the Indian Premier League 2023. It was a vital game in the context of the tournament as RCB needed a win to stay in contention for the playoffs. Meanwhile, a loss would have made their path to the next round too difficult.
The RCB skipper Faf du Plessis won the toss and invited the Orange Army to bat first. Henrich Klaasen led the charge for Sunrisers Hyderabad after a sedate start. The South African wicketkeeper-batter smoked a breathtaking century to take the home side to a massive total of 186/5 in 20 overs.
With a big total in sight, Royal Challengers Bangalore needed another special performance from their big three to win the game. The openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis didn’t disappoint their supporters as the dynamic duo dismissed SRH’s challenge completely.
Virat Kohli overshadowed Faf du Plessis with a century
Both Kohli and Faf matched each other shot to shot but in the end, it was the Indian run machine who overshadowed his partner in the vital game. The King reached his century off 62 deliveries before getting out the very next ball.
