Chris Jordan, who Mumbai Indians signed as the replacement for his England teammate Jofra Archer, had a tough day at work as he gave away fifty runs in his four-over spell against Lucknow Super Giants. With a place in the playoffs on the line, Lucknow Super Giants welcomed Mumbai Indians at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in the 63rd match of the Indian Premier League 2023.

Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited LSG to bat first. Soon, the bowlers proved the decision of their skipper right as the five-time champions dismissed the top three batters in 6.1 overs. However, LSG skipper Krunal Pandya stitched a vital partnership alongside Marcus Stoinis before getting retired hurt.

The Ekana Stadium has been a challenging venue to score runs due to its dry and slow surface. The LSG batters steadied the ship without losing any further wickets. However, the home side needed some quick runs at the death to post a healthy total against the mighty batting unit of Mumbai Indians.

Marcus Stoinis blasts Chris Jordan for 24 runs in the 18th over

Looking for a big finish in the final three overs, the Aussie all-rounder targeted the English pacer in the 18th over. He smashed two maximums and three boundaries against Jordan to boost the LSG total. In the end, Chris Jordan proved too expensive on a bowling-friendly surface to spend fifty runs in his four overs.

Meanwhile, Marcus Stoinis finished unbeaten with 89 runs off 47 deliveries, including eight maximums and four boundaries. In the end, LSG posted a massive total of 177/3 in 20 overs.

The fans were pretty disappointed with Chris Jordan’s performance as they trolled the pacer badly on Twitter.
