IPL 2023: 3 players Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could target in mini-auction

Kolkata Knight Riders endured a tough run in the IPL 2022 despite making a strong start in the competition. They won three of their first four matches but they lost the next five matches to slip down. In the end, they finished 7th in the points table with six wins and eight losses.

The Kolkata-based franchise went on a release spree ahead of the auctions for the IPL 2023. They released the likes of Pat Cummins, Sam Billings, Ajinkya Rahane, Alex Hales, and Shivam Mavi among others. They made some smart trades ahead of the mini-auction as they brought in Rahmatullah Gurbaz, Lockie Ferguson, and Shardul Thakur.

Kolkata Knight Riders need to sign 11 players, including three overseas players with a purse of INR 7.05 crore. However, their playing XI looks settled at the moment and they need backups for their main players. In this post, we will take a look at the top players Kolkata Knight Riders could sign in the mini-auction.

The all-rounder from Namibia plays T20 cricket all over the world. In fact, he has also played in the Indian Premier League for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the past.

Kolkata Knight Riders have Andre Russell in their playing XI but the big West Indies all-rounder has been prone to injury in the last couple of years. They certainly need a quality backup to him in case of an injury.

David Wiese is a proven T20 performer as he can use the long handle at the death, while he is also a clever bowler with his variations. Furthermore, he will be available at the base price of INR 50 lakh with little competition from the other franchises.
