The Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2021 final to win their fourth title. They are just one title away from equalling Mumbai Indians in the cash-rich IPL. Meanwhile, the BCCI had asked all the eight teams to submit the list of players that they were going to retain for the upcoming season.
All the clubs submitted the list on November 30, Tuesday. Talking about Chennai Super Kings, they decided to retain four players (3 Indians, 1 foreign player). Ravindra Jadeja is the most expensive player alongside Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma and Delhi Capitals’ Rishabh Pant as they were all retained for Rs 16 crore each.
CSK retained Ravindra Jadeja (Rs 16 crore), MS Dhoni (12 crore), Moeen Ali (8 crore) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (Rs 6 crore). The yellow brigade still have Rs 48 crore left in their wallet. They are expected to do some smart business again in the upcoming auction.
Robin Uthappa feels CSK will rope in Suresh Raina for the next season
Robin Uthappa, Suresh Raina, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Josh Hazlewood and other top players were released by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the IPL 2021 auction. Meanwhile, Robin Uthappa had a candid chat with the Star Sports network.
Uthappa revealed that CSK will go for Suresh Raina in the mega auction. In fact, Raina played a substantial role for CSK since the start of the IPL. The southpaw is the team’s leading run-getter with 5528 runs in 205 games.
The elegant batsman smashed as many as 39 fifties and a solitary century to his name. There is absolutely no doubt that CSK will target him in the mega auction. Uthappa said: “Suresh Raina is the biggest stalwart of CSK – so I think Raina will be the first player they will go in the auction.”
