The legendary Indian opener Virender Sehwag has advised Delhi Capitals’ captain Rishabh Pant to find the right balance in his batting. As per Sehwag, Pant hasn’t been able to find the right approach to bat so far this season. Pant is either batting at a slow pace while taking the responsibility or he is getting out too soon while trying to play his natural game.

Rishabh Pant has been in a decent form so far in the IPL 2022. He has scored a total of 234 runs in 9 matches at a strike rate of 149. However, Pant has failed to play any impactful knock so far and he hasn’t been able to take Delhi Capitals over the line.

In fact, in Delhi Capitals’ previous game against Lucknow Super Giants, the left-handed southpaw scored 44 runs off 30 deliveries but he got out at the wrong time and the Delhi-based franchise lost the game by six runs.

Rishabh Pant should play responsibly – Virender Sehwag

Speaking on Cricbuzz, Sehwag analyzed Pant’s batting and admitted that the Delhi skipper has failed to find the balance in his batting.

“Yes, Pant should play with a bit of responsibility. But when he does that, the strike rate falls. On the other hand, when he is playing freely, he gets out. He needs to find the right balance wherein he is able to play freely while batting till the end. Pant must not carry any baggage and play like the Pant of old. A run-a-ball 40 doesn’t suit Pant and doesn’t take the team anywhere,” said Virender Sehwag.

Furthermore, the former explosive opener also talked about Delhi Capitals’ bowling unit. He opined that not only DC’s batting but their bowling also is letting them down.

“DC’s bowling is not clicking. Shardul and Axar are not able to bowl their four overs. Is this the right combination? (Anrich) Nortje is not fit. Earlier, they had Nortje and (Kagiso) Rabada doing the job. They need to set their combination right. Don’t think the current one is working,” concluded Virender Sehwag.

Delhi Capitals are in a need of a win desperately as they sit 7th in the points table with four wins and five losses after nine matches. They will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in their next game on Thursday but a loss could push them to the verge of elimination.
