IPL 2022: Rishabh Pant heavily fined for breaching IPL Code of Conduct

In the latest development, Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant has been slapped with heavy penalties for breaching IPL‘s Code of Conduct in the game against Rajasthan Royals on Friday night.

His team member Shardul Thakur has also been penalized monetarily, while the assistant coach Pravin Amre has been banned for one game.

In a never-seen-before fiasco, Rishabh Pant tried to call Delhi Capitals’ batters back to the pavilion after the on-field umpires didn’t call a no-ball against Rajasthan Royals. The skipper could be seen involved in a heated verbal exchange during the incident. Moreover, Delhi Capitals’ assistant coach ran to the ground to confront the umpires.

“Delhi Capitals captain, Rishabh Pant has been fined 100 percent of his match-fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai,” said the IPL official press-release.

“Mr Pant admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.7 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” it further added.

Pace bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur has also been slapped with a 50%-match fee fine owing to his on-field behavior.

“Shardul Thakur from Delhi Capitals has been fined 50 percent of his match-fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Mr Thakur admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” stated the IPL press release.

Moreover, the assistant coach of Delhi Capitals Pravin Amre has been banned for one game in the IPL.

“Pravin Amre, Assistant Coach, Delhi Capitals has been fined 100 percent of his match-fee for breaching the TATA Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. He will also face a one-match ban for the offence. Mr Amre admitted to the Level 2 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” the official press release of the IPL concluded.
