On Wednesday night, it was an enthralling contest between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians at the MCA Stadium. The temperature was expected to flare between the players, given the fixture’s intensity. In such one incident, West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith was caught giving Dewald Brevis an angry sendoff after clinching his wicket.

Known as ‘Baby AB’ courtesy of his shot-making ability like the fellow South African great AB de Villiers, Dewald Brevis was breathing fire with his willow before Odean Smith picked his wicket in the 11th over.

Chasing the total of 199, Mumbai Indians sent Dewald Brevis to bat at number three after the wicket of Rohit Sharma. However, the teenage sensation soon repaid the faith by playing a blinder.

Dewald Brevis looked in sublime touch against the Kings from Punjab. He once threatened to make a mockery of the chase, smashing Rahul Chahar for four consecutive sixes in an over. However, the youngster missed an opportunity to become the youngest overseas player to score a half-century in the IPL.

Bevis was caught in the deep for 49 runs off 24 deliveries, trying to pull a short ball from Odean Smith. The West Indies pacer was visibly frustrated from the stick he received, subsequently giving an angry send-off to the young Mumbai Indians prodigy.

Odean Smith had already received a lot of bashing after the poor outing against Gujarat Titans. However, the all-rounder managed to redeem himself after clinching four wickets against the five-time champions.

The road gets tougher for Mumbai Indians

Nothing has been working for Mumbai Indians this season. They are now on a five-game losing run and have yet to open their account. The Blues have a monumental task in their hand as they must win 8 matches out of the remaining 9 to qualify for the playoffs.
