Sunrisers Hyderabad batting consultant Brian Lara could not believe his eyes after the skipper Kane Williamson threw his wicket away in a must-win game, trying to play a rash shot.

While chasing the total against Kolkata Knight Riders, the Kiwi skipper tried to be cheeky and played an audacious scoop shot. However, he missed Andre Russell’s delivery to see his stumps in a mess.

Kane Williamson has been completely out of form and he is having a mediocre season with the bat. The Kiwi has only managed 208 runs in 12 matches while opening the batting for the Orange Army. Moreover, his strike rate has been a striking issue for the team as Williamson has only scored runs at an embarrassing strike rate of 92.85. SRH’s batting consultant Brian Lara would be very disappointed with his skipper’s effort this season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders met in the 61st game of the IPL 2022 and it was a must-win game for both sides, more so for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Batting first, the Kolkata-based franchise posted a total of 177/6 in 20 overs, courtesy of some late blitz from ‘Dre Russ’ Andre Russell. In such a pressure game, SRH needed something special from their skipper but Williamson tried to be cute and lost his wicket.

Under the pressure of the increasing required run rate and to maximise the final over of the powerplay, Kane Williamson chose to play a ramp/scoop shot off Andre Russell. However, the New Zealander completely missed the ball and got bowled instead.

The legendary Brian Lara could not believe his eyes after witnessing such a petty dismissal and shake his head in disappointment.
