Australian cricketer Steve Smith is currently applying his skills for Delhi Capitals in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. Delhi Capitals are riding high on confidence this season. Having played 11 games, they managed to rack up as many as eight wins this season.

Rishabh Pant-led team also possesses a good net run rate of +0.562 and secured 16 points. They recently locked horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in the 41st game of the IPL in Sharjah. DC team management decided to promote Steve Smith as an opener who played alongside Shikhar Dhawan.

The duo looked comfortably from the start as they looked promising in taking the attack to the cleaners. Needless to say, their plans have been put to an end by Lockie Ferguson who dismissed Dhawan for 20 runs. Although Smith kept going, he could score 39 runs to his name.

The right-handed batsman hit 4 boundaries where he faced 34 balls. DC captain Rishabh Pant chipped in with 39 off 36 balls where he struck three boundaries. Apart from them, all other batsmen departed for cheap scores. Eventually, DC ended up posting a paltry total of 127/9 in 20 overs.

Steve Smith gets hit on the groin

Australia’s Steve Smith caught himself in a moment of horror after he got hit on the soft area against Kolkata Knight Riders. During the very first ball of the 13th over, while Smith was batting on 39, he was looking to take his batting to the next level. He knew that the run rate was poor and so he decided to escalate it.

During the first ball, Smith tried to play a creative shot by coming towards the off-side. However, Ferguson bowled a slower ball from the New Zealand pacer. Meanwhile, Smith premeditated the scoop shot but didn’t get his timing right as he got an inside edge before hitting on the groin.
