IPL 2021: Ravindra Jadeja applauds umpire for not giving a wide in Sharjah
Ravindra Jadeja bowled a crucial spell against RCB.
Chennai Super Kings are in terrific form in the ongoing season of the IPL. They picked up lessons on the go from the last season and have ensured to not repeat the same mistakes again this season. MS Dhoni-led team came through with flying colours on 7 occasions.
They lost to Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians this season. Apart from that, they comfortably won games with ease. They recently locked horns with Royal Challengers Bangalore in Sharjah. The fixture turned out to be a visual treat for the spectators.
Sharjah venue has seen plenty of high-scoring totals in the last season. Although the venue didn’t see a massive total, the game kept the fans at the edge of their seats. Batting first, Royal Challengers Bangalore posted 156/6 in their quota of 20 overs.
Devdutt Padikkal chipped in with 70 off 50 balls while Virat Kohli scored 53 off 41 balls. Dwayne Bravo unleashed his bowling masterclass by taking three important wickets. He was the standout performer for CSK in the bowling department.
Ravindra Jadeja appreciates Anil Chaudhary for not giving a wide
While the standards of umpiring have deteriorated to some extent, there are few umpires who uplift standards with good decisions on the field. Among the umpires, Anil Chaudhary has always made a name for himself for his top-notch decisions on the field.
During the game between CSK and RCB, a comical incident took place featuring Ravindra Jadeja and Anil Chaudhary. The incident happened when Jadeja bowled a quick delivery outside Devdutt Padikkal’s off-stump in the fourth ball of the 11th over.
Padikkal who was looking in good touch with the bat tried to punish the ball. As it happened, the ball moved across the off-stump. Since the delivery was going a bit wider, the southpaw decided to leave the ball in the first place.
Much to Padikkal’s surprise, the umpire didn’t move one bit as he didn’t call it ‘wide’. The umpire had his own reason as to why he didn’t call it a wide. Padikkal already moved across his off-stump and that’s the only reason why the umpire didn’t signal it ‘wide’.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja reserved the highest respect for the umpire. The CSK all-rounder patted him twice on his back as he applauded the umpire.
