IND vs SA 2022: 3 changes India should make in 3rd T20I against South Africa

A couple of changes are expected in India's XI as they have already won the series.

India are all set to take on South Africa in the 3rd T20I at the Holkar Cricket Stadium on Tuesday evening. India have already sealed the three-match series after winning the first two matches by 8 wickets and 16 runs respectively. With the series already won, the Indian team management has announced the rest for vice-captain KL Rahul and Virat Kohli for the third T20I.

Now, the Indian team management will be looking to carry out some experiments in playing XI. Hence, in this post, we will take a look at three changes India could make in the 3rd T20I.

1. Shreyas Iyer in for Virat Kohli

The right-handed batter is likely to be included in the playing XI in place of Virat Kohli. Shreyas Iyer has scored runs whenever he got an opportunity in the Indian team. The Mumbai-based batter has scored 1029 in 46 T20Is at an average of 33.16. This game will give him some vital game time ahead of the T20 World Cup as Shreyas Iyer is one of the players in the reserves of Team India’s squad for the mega event.

2. Yuzvendra Chahal replaces Ravichandran Ashwin

With an abundance of left-arm spinners in the South African batting unit, off-spinner Ravi Ashwin has played the first two games ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal. While Ashwin has remained very economical in the past two games, he failed to take any wickets. Yuzvendra Chahal, on the other hand, is India’s attacking option in the middle overs. Bowling to left-handed batters in the middle overs will test Yuzi’s bowling wits and it would be a great test for him before leaving for the T20 World Cup.

3. Mohammed Siraj walks in place of KL Rahul

The vice-captain of Team India has been given a rest in the 3rd T20I. With India struggling on the bowling front, the team management would be keen to add another bowler to strengthen their attack. Mohammed Siraj could get the nod ahead of senior pro Umesh Yadav courtesy of his recent form across the formats. It will be a golden opportunity for the right-arm pacer to grab the chance and throw his hat in the mix for Jasprit Bumrah’s replacement.
