IND vs BAN 2024: 3 Indian players who can replace Shubman Gill in Bangladesh T20Is

Shubman Gill, who is one of India’s most promising young cricketers, has had a mixed run of form in recent times. At times, he has performed extremely well but hasn’t quite been able to remain consistent. After leading India to a convincing T20I series win over Zimbabwe, the youngster ran through rough patch during the Sri Lanka tour, where he failed to live up to the expectations.

In fact, his struggles continued in the Duleep Trophy, where he fell prey to cheap low scores in India A’s opener against India B. While the 24-year-old is expected to up his ante in India’s forthcoming Test series against Bangladesh, reports suggest that he may be rested for the T20I leg of the tour.

As per reports, the Indian team management is keen to manage his workload and keep him fresh for the demanding Test season ahead. This opens a window of opportunity for other talents to step in and make their mark in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. The T20I series will begin on October 6, Sunday. Here are three Indian players who could potentially replace Gill in the T20I squad.

1. Ruturaj Gaikwad

It is no secret that Ruturaj Gaikwad has been knocking on the doors of the Indian T20I side for quite some time now. The right-hander is known for his elegant stroke play and ability to anchor an innings, especially in the shortest format, making him a perfect T20 material.

The CSK captain who has been a consistent performer in the IPL and domestic cricket is an ideal replacement for Gill. The upcoming series against Bangladesh could be the perfect opportunity for him to cement his place in the T20I squad. He scored 633 runs in 23 T20Is, laced with 1 century and 4 fifties at an average of 39.6.
