“I hope he is paying” – Ellyse Perry on Murali Vijay’s dinner date wish

Ellyse Perry has been stepping up at the right time for RCB-W.

Australia’s premier all-rounder Ellyse Perry has been in tremendous form of late. With two consecutive match-winning knocks, she carried Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (RCBW) into the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 final.

RCBW had a disheartening inaugural season last year. But they turned the tables with terrific performances in both batting and bowling to reach their maiden WPL final. Perry played a massive role against Mumbai Indians Women (MIW) in successive encounters.

In their last league game, Perry picked up six wickets for just 15 runs and later scored an unbeaten 40-run knock to march her team into the eliminator. During the eliminator against the same side, RCB was under so much pressure. The right-handed batter notched up a vital 66-run knock and took the wicket of Yastika Bhatia. The ‘Play Bold’ army defeated MIW by five runs to earn their place in the final.

Ellyse Perry came up with amusing reply to Murali Vijay’s dinner date wish

Meanwhile, Ellyse Perry’s interview from 2020 has been going viral on various social media platforms. During the interview, the host asked the 33-year-old all-rounder about on response to retired India batter Murali Vijay, who would like to go on a dinner date with her.

“Murali Vijay, in an interview was asked, if after the lockdown there were two people he would want to go on dinner with would it be? He said Shikhar Dhawan, one of his teammates, and you. What would you respond to that?” anchor asked the cricketer.

Perry gave a witty reply, “I hope he is paying if that’s the case. That’s very kind of him. I am very flattered.”

Ellyse Perry is the current orange cap holder of the WPL with 312 runs in eight innings. She also has seven wickets under her belt. Perry will be in action when RCBW takes on Delhi Capitals Women (DCW) in the WPL 2024 final on March 17 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
