“I have to be ready for that” – Sarfaraz Khan expecting call for IPL 2024

Sarfaraz Khan smashed 200 runs in just three games in the Test series against England.

Indian batter Sarfaraz Khan has revealed whether he is in talks with any franchise to join them and participate in the seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which is set to kick off on March 22.

Surprisingly, Sarfaraz got no buyer at the mini-auction for IPL 2024. However, his recent heroics against England in the Test series have opened a door for his return. He has been linked with multiple franchises but has received no concrete deal yet.

Speaking at India Today Conclave in New Delhi, the 26-year-old accepted the fact that he might earn a call as many players get injured throughout the season. However, he insisted that he isn’t part of any franchise as of now but would be happy to if any opportunity arises.

“In a big IPL season, there are chances of players getting injured, and you get calls. But, what’s in my hand is my hard work. I want to keep working hard. I am not part of the IPL as of now, but if I get a call, I have to be ready for that. I have to continue my practice at home and also keep my red-ball practice going,” Sarfaraz Khan said.

Sarfaraz Khan doesn’t have impressive IPL numbers

Sarfaraz Khan has featured in eight seasons of the cash-rich league. His CV includes Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC). However, he couldn’t establish himself as a reliable batter in the tournament.

The right-handed batter has appeared in 50 IPL games so far, accumulating only 585 runs at an average of 22.50 and a strike rate of 130.58. He would definitely like to improve these numbers if given a chance. It will be interesting to see if he gets a team or not for this season.
