After losing the first Test match by 227 runs, Team India bounced back in style and won the second Test by 317 runs to register their biggest ever win over England in the longest format of the game. Talking about the performance of both teams in the pink-ball Test, both teams failed miserably in the first innings.
When England batted first, they were restricted to a mere total of 112 in the first innings while Team India responded with 145. England once again failed to find a rhythm with the bat as they were bowled out for just 81 and thus set up a target of 49 for the hosts.
Team India chased down the target by 10 wickets and took a 2-1 lead in the series. Rohit Sharma who was the top run-scorer in the second Test (161 and 26) once again ended up as the top run-scorer in the third Test as well (66 and 25*). On the other hand, Axar Patel took 6 wickets in the first innings and 5 wickets in the second innings. Ravi Ashwin took 3 and 4 wickets in the first and second innings.
Ravi Shastri reacts to ‘dry state’ meme
India’s head coach Ravi Shastri couldn’t have asked for a better performance from his boys, especially after the first Test debacle. They took the series very seriously and executed their plans to perfection. The former Indian cricketer Shastri left the fans astonished with his epic reaction to banter on social media.
Every now and then, the cricket fraternity has seen India’s head coach’s pics doing the rounds for his love for drinks. Meanwhile, a similar meme went viral after India’s victory in the pink-ball Test in Ahmedabad. With Gujarat being a dry state, India secured an emphatic win within 2 days which made the netizens come up with catchy hilarious memes.
One of the hilarious memes shows that India ended the game fast only to ignore staying in the dry state for a long time. The meme was shared on Twitter by journalist Shobha De where she went on to tag the former Indian all-rounder Shastri in her tweet.
She wrote: ‘Smart’. And to everyone’s surprise, Shastri not only reacted to the tweet but did it in a sporting manner as he wrote: “Love the banter! Feels good to bring some smiles in these tough times.”
