“Has got a very good chance to break my Test records” – Brian Lara lauds Yashasvi Jaiswal
Brian Lara reckons his Test records maybe in danger.
West Indies’ batting great Brian Lara has reserved the highest respect for Yashasvi Jaiswal in a recent interview. The former West Indies captain came up a bold prediction, stating that the youngster has got a very good chance to break his Test records.
Lara is of the notion that Jaiswal has all the tools and ingredients to not only take his game to another level but also create history in the long run. The former West Indies captain is very much impressed with the way Jaiswal has played so far.
Lara labelled Jaiswal an “outstanding young cricketer”. He also stated how he quickly found himself connected to him after meeting him for the first time. Lara also echoed that Jaiswal is an enthusiastic learner and that he is keenly interested to learn as much as possible.
“If I feel my records are threatened, Jaiswal has got a very good chance to do so. He has got capabilities, couple of double hundreds already. He is that good. The only thing I can reveal about that (conversation) is I think he is an outstanding young cricketer,” he said.
“What I like about him is that he is very humble and willing to work. The first time I met him (last year), I immediately found myself attached to him,” former West Indies captain Brian Lara was quoted as saying by Rediff.

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s numbers in Test cricket
Yashasvi Jaiswal who made his Test debut for India in 2023 has gone on play 9 Tests. The 22-year-old showcased a great deal of calmness, composure and aggression in his approach, which helped him bring the best out of himself in the purest format.
The bright prospect has mustered 1028 runs at an average of 68.5. He has amassed 2 double centuries, 3 centuries and 4 fifties so far. Despite the fact that Jaiswal played only 9 Tests so far, Lara opines that the youngster can shatter his records in Tests.
