Hardik Pandya recalls MS Dhoni’s heartfelt gesture where he offered his bed in New Zealand

In 2019, BCCI had suspended Hardik Pandya for his inappropriate comments on a TV show.

Hardik Pandya is one of the pivotal all-rounders in Indian cricket. The all-rounder has been focusing on his batting of late and hasn’t swung his arms to bowl. Meanwhile, the all-rounder had recalled MS Dhoni’s touching gesture.

The incident happened back in 2019 when Hardik Pandya came in as a late addition to the squad for the away series against New Zealand. The all-rounder reached midway through the series where he played six out of eight games.

In fact, the all-rounder was originally scheduled to land in New Zealand with other players of the Indian national cricket team from Australia. However, India’s governing body’s strict suspension saw him return to India.

The all-rounder Pandya was sent to New Zealand to make his comeback to international cricket. Hardik Pandya ran through some issues upon reaching there because there was no hotel room available for him.

Upon recalling MS Dhoni’s heartfelt gesture, Hardik Pandya echoed that the former India captain offered his bed to him as he sleeps on the floor. “MS was someone who understood me from the start: how I function, what kind of a person I am, what are the things I don’t like, everything.

When I was picked for the New Zealand series [in January 2019, after the suspension was revoked], initially there were no hotel rooms [for Pandya in New Zealand]. But then I get a call, saying, “You just come. MS has told us, ‘I don’t sleep on the bed [in any case]. He will sleep on my bed and I will sleep on the floor,” Pandya told ESPNcricinfo.
