ENG vs IND: Three players who can replace KL Rahul in India’s ODI squad
Ahead of their tour to England, India have been dealt with a body blow as their star batter KL Rahul has been ruled out of the whole tour with a groin injury. India will play seven matches on the tour, including one rescheduled Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is.
The Indian opener and the vice-captain in white-ball format is troubled with a recurring groin injury and now the BCCI has decided to send him to Germany for the treatment. It will be a huge miss for Team India as the stylish lad from Karnataka is one of the main pillars of the Indian batting across the formats.
While the national selectors have already announced the Test squad, they are yet to pick a squad for England ODIs and T20Is. Hence, here we will talk about the three opening batters who could get a chance in the place of the batter in the Indian ODI squad.
3 players who could replace KL Rahul for ODI series against England:
1. Prithvi Shaw
The young destructive opener from Mumbai looked in great touch during the recently-concluded edition of the IPL. Prithvi Shaw likes pace and bounce to his bat and he also has good cut and pull shots in his armoury.
Moreover, he is carrying a solid form behind himself as he has been scoring runs in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.
Prithvi Shaw has played only 6 ODI games in his career, where he has scored 189 runs at an average of 31.5, striking at a rate of over 113. He could be a solid option to replace KL Rahul in the squad.
