The cricket fraternity has seen players taking spectacular catches during the passage of play. Taking such catches can literally change the entire complexion of the game. Case in point, the CPL 2021 has already ensured to keep the fans at the edge of their seats.
The 11th match of CPL 2021 between Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors contained plenty of spice, drama, thrill, and some nail-biting moments. Both the teams fought a great battle. The 2020 CPL champions batted first and posted 138/9 in 20 overs.
Colin Munro had top-scored with 32 off 28 balls for Trinbago Knight Riders. He struck as many as two fours and two sixes. Isuru Udana scored a quickfire 21 off nine balls with the help of 2 fours and sixes.
Romario Shepherd and Mohammad Hafeez took three wickets apiece for Guyana Amazon Warriors. Nicholas Pooran-led Warriors found themselves in a tricky situation while chasing the target. They lacked consistency in the batting unit and lost wickets at regular intervals.
Shimron Hetmyer and Nicholas Pooran scored 27 runs apiece. However, the skipper Pooran upped his ante to the next level by piling up runs very quickly. He scored 27 off 14 balls with the help of 2 fours and two sixes before falling prey to Ravi Rampaul’s bowling.
Akeal Hosein takes a world-class catch to dismiss Nicholas Pooran
Guyana Amazon Warriors relied on Nicholas Pooran, but sadly, he got out at the wrong time. Akeal Hosein took the entire cricket fraternity by surprise as he took a stunning one-handed catch to get rid of Nicholas Pooran.
The incident happened during the 18th over when Pooran was looking for options to score runs quickly. The southpaw dispatched Ravi Rampaul’s delivery in search of a boundary. However, things didn’t go as per the plan for Pooran as Akeal Hosein jumped at the right place and took the catch at the right time.
He would have touched the boundary rope, but thanks to his sheer presence of mind, he didn’t make any error. Guyana Amazon Warriors somehow managed to level the target. As a result, the CPL 2021 saw the first Super Over battle. The Amazon Warriors pulled off the Super Over and secured their second win over the Knight Riders.
