South African batter Dewald Brevis rewrote the history books on Monday by smashing a whirlwind century in the CSA T20 Challenge 2022. The right-handed batter smoked 162 runs off 57 deliveries, including 13 boundaries and 13 maximums.

Known as ‘Baby AB’ Brevis first grabbed the limelight during the last edition of the U19 World Cup. He finished as the tournament’s leading run-scorer and became the talk of the town courtesy of his free-flowing stroke-making. Soon after, Mumbai Indians broke the bank to sign the youngster in the auctions ahead of the IPL 2022 to make a shrewd investment for the future.

In fact, Dewald Brevis showed his class in the few matches he played for the five-time champions. The 19-year-old once again lightened the stage in the ongoing CSA T20 Challenge. In the ongoing game between Titans and Knights, Brevis played a record-breaking knock.

Dewald Brevis scores a 35-ball century

On Monday, The Knights won the toss and invited the Titans to bat first. Brevis walked out to bat first and what followed next was absolute mayhem. The youngster completed his century off just 35 deliveries. In the process, he also equalled the third-highest T20 score ever.

In the end, the Titans posted a massive total of 271/3 in 20 overs. Chasing such a mammoth total, the Knights could only manage 230/9 and lost the game by 41 runs.
