IPL 2022: Rohit Sharma gives pitch invader a virtual hug; Virat Kohli appreciates the gesture
In the clash between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rohit Sharma was seen giving a virtual hug to a pitch invader. Mumbai Indians and RCB met in a battle of two heavyweights in the 18th match of the IPL at the MCA Stadium, Pune.
Mumbai Indians were in a desperate situation to win their first game of the season. RCB’s skipper Faf du Plessis, invited the five-time champions to bat first. However, the opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan provided their team with a flyer. But the Blues could not keep up their momentum as they were reduced 79/6 in the 14th over. Suryakumar Yadav once again came to the rescue of Mumbai Indians and played a whirlwind knock of unbeaten 68 runs off 37 deliveries to take his side to a respectable 151/6 in 20 overs.
In response, Royal Challengers Bangalore also began strongly as Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat also added 50 runs for the first wicket. However, once Faf was gone, Virat Kohli entered the scene to do what he does best – hunt down the totals.
An interesting incident occurred during the chase as a fan breached the security to enter the ground. The fan ran towards Rohit Sharma, but the Indian skipper turned his back and distanced himself from the fan courtesy of the covid guidelines. However, Rohit Sharma gave a virtual hug to the fan, and Virat Kohli also appreciated the beautiful gesture from the Hitman.

Roads get tougher for Rohit Sharma and Mumbai Indians
Who would have thought that Mumbai Indians would struggle to open their account in the competition at the beginning of the league?
The Mumbai-based franchise has lost four consecutive matches, and they have yet to open their account. The five-time champions lost their game against RCB by seven wickets. It would require some character from Rohit Sharma and Mumbai Indians to bounce back from here.
