WATCH: Virat Kohli rolls his arms in the warm-up game against Australia
With India struggling to slot in a sixth bowling option, captain Virat Kohli was seen taking over the responsibility during the warm-up game against Australia in Dubai on Wednesday.
As Hardik Pandya is yet to resume bowling in the wake of the back injury, India have played with five bowling options. With a lack of options, Virat Kohli was spotted bowling some gentle medium pace with a short run-up. The ace cricketer looked in rhythm and bowled a couple of decent overs to give India the much-needed edge.

Myself, Virat, Surya will bowl and see if we can chip in with the sixth option – Rohit Sharma
Hardik Pandya, who underwent a back surgery in 2019 hasn’t resumed bowling. Although he has bowled a couple of overs but has not looked in rhythm. Speaking at the toss, Rohit Sharma stated Hardik will start bowling soon and will be ready before the start of the main tournament.
“Hardik is coming along pretty well but he’s still going to take some time. He hasn’t bowled much. When you play this kind of a tournament, you need to be a 100%. He’s getting there. He’s not started bowling yet but in the next few days he starts bowling and he should be ready when the World Cup starts,” Rohit Sharma said.
Rohit, who led India in place of Virat Kohli against Australia, also admitted that they might roll their arms to fill the gap of the sixth bowler.
“Possibly. Myself, Virat, Surya. We’ll all bowl and see if we can chip in with a sixth option. Not really. Even if we play with five bowlers, we’ve got the quality. The sixth bowler just gives you an extra option in case someone is having a bad day,” he added.
