IPL 2021: Virender Sehwag takes a swipe at Eoin Morgan after the latter’s heated exchange with Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin faced heat from English media after his spat with Eoin Morgan.

The ongoing 14th edition of the Indian Premier League has witnessed interesting things during the passage of the play. In yesterday’s second match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, Krunal Pandya hogged the limelight for a good reason. He showed amazing sportsmanship after he withdrew a run-out appeal against captain KL Rahul.

Fans from all across the world heaped praise on Krunal Pandya for his incredible gesture. However, the first match witnessed bad and ugly moments on the field. Ravichandran Ashwin and Eoin Morgan were involved in a heated tussle on Tuesday during Delhi Capitals’ clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in Sharjah.

The war of words started when Ravi Ashwin attempted to take a second run after a throw from KKR fielder ricochetted off Rishabh Pant. Meanwhile, this incident didn’t go well with the KKR captain. Morgan decided to protest against the second run and further got into an altercation with veteran off-spinner Ravi Ashwin.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Virender Sehwag took to his official Twitter handle and took a swipe at the KKR captain for creating a scene on the deflected overthrow. The former Indian opening batsman was quick to cite an example from the 2019 World Cup final.

During the game, a throw ricocheted off Ben Stokes’ bat which went for a boundary. This helped the Morgan-led England cricket team to tie the game against the Black Caps. In the end, England won the World Cup based on the infamous boundary count rule after the Super Over also ended in a tie.

“On July 14th , 2019 when it ricocheted of Ben Stokes bat in the final over, Mr Morgan sat on a Dharna outside Lord’s and refused to hold the World cup trophy and New Zealand won. Haina ? Bade aaye, ‘doesn’t appreciate’ waale,” Virender Sehwag tweeted along with an image of Dinesh Karthik’s post-match comments on the on-field spat between Morgan and Aswhin.

Nonetheless, Ashwin had the final say in the battle as he dismissed Morgan for a second-ball duck. After the dismissal, Ashwin was all pumped as he celebrated the wicket. However, Delhi Capitals missed out on winning against KKR as the two-time IPL champions won by 3 wickets.
