5 players LSG could retain ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made their entry into the cash-rich Indian Premier League in the 2022 edition. The Lucknow-based franchise qualified for the playoffs in their debut season by finishing third on the points table. Nevertheless, they lacked the cutting edge to go beyond that stage.

Even in the subsequent season, they faced a similar fate as they qualified for the playoffs by finishing third on the group stage points table but failed to extend their dominance beyond that stage. After back-to-back playoffs qualifications, they failed to do a hat-trick as they finished seventh on the points table under KL Rahul’s captaincy.

It remains to be seen how they will go about their business in the IPL 2025 season. After a disappointing campaign, they will look to sort out the woes before heading into the next season. For sure, they will retain the core part of the players such that they will be able to compete for the championship in IPL 2025.

1. KL Rahul

KL Rahul is one of the top performers in the history of the Indian Premier League. He possesses a truckload of experience in the cash rich IPL, wherein he has made as many as 132 appearances in the competition so far.

Having been a part of the IPL since 2013, he scored 4683 runs at an exceptional batting average of 45.37 overall, he scored four centuries and 37 half centuries to his name. Under his captaincy, LSG qualified for the playoffs in the first two editions but they failed to qualify in the previous edition.

KL Rahul came under fire for his mediocre batting performance in the last season where he was criticized for his strike rate and intent. It remains to be seen how he will go about his work as a batsman and captain in the next season.
