[WATCH] Shardul Thakur pulls off fiery celebration after his maiden first-class century

Shardul Thakur emulated Sarfaraz Khan's celebration in Ranji Trophy semi-final against Tamil Nadu.

Shardul Thakur hogged the limelight after he displayed raw emotions during the Mumbai vs Tamil Nadu Ranji Trophy semi-final on March 3, Sunday. Mumbai’s bowling all-rounder smashed his maiden first-class century in a crucial game and he couldn’t be any happier.

The all-rounder was dropped from the Indian team for his inconsistent performances. Just months after getting dropped from the scheme of things, he made a bold statement with the bat in the semi-final, which brought the team back into contention.

Batting first, Tamil Nadu were bowled out for 146. In reply, Mumbai struggled to dictate terms as they played right into the hands of TN bowlers. While they were reeling at 108 for the loss of 7 wickets, Shardul Thakur changed the complexion of the game.

While he was batting on 95*, he hit Ajith’s ball by stepping down the track, which was more than enough for the red cherry to sail over the ropes. The video clip of Shardul Thakur’s celebration has been doing the rounds on social media.

He found the gaps, converted the 1’s into 2’s, and smashed 13 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 103.81. Thakur brought up his maiden century with a six and soon after that, he pulled off a fiery celebration by punching the air and pointing at the dugout.
