The Test opener between South Africa and India at SuperSport Park in Centurion witnessed one such incident. South African wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne suffered a rare brain fade moment, a sudden lapse of concentration helped KL Rahul to get back to the striker’s end.

The incident took place during the third ball of the 66th over when Prasidh Krishna was on strike. South Africa were pretty much trying to bowl out India, when the tourists were at 238/9 and with four deliveries in hand, Gerald Coetzee was trying his best to outsmart Prasidh Krishna.
However, as it turned out, in the third ball of that over, Gerald Coetzee’s full-length ball went down the leg side. Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper Kyle Verreynne who caught the ball clean didn’t pay attention towards the Indian batters, who cheekily tried to get a single.
Prasidh Krishna realized that KL Rahul was rushing towards the striker’s end and the former sprinted towards the non-striker’s end to complete 1 run as bye. KL Rahul smartly capitalized on the wicketkeeper’s lapse of concentration, which helped him score a century in the same over with a magnificent six.
KL Rahul scored 101 off 137 including 14 fours and 4 sixes before he was dismissed by Nandre Burger in the next over. India mustered 245 runs in the first innings. In reply, South Africa scored 49/1 in 16 overs (lunch break).
