SA vs IND 2023: 3 Indian players who might not get a chance in T20I series
After winning the five-match T20I series against Australia, Team India are all set to commence their next assignment against South Africa. The tour will kick off with the T20I series and also consists of the ODI and Test formats.
Surprisingly, the Men in Blue named a young squad for the T20I series. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah will not be a part of the side. Hence, a whole new line-up will be battling out against the Proteas.
The visitors will aim at winning the series at all costs, meaning they might not be able to give opportunity to everyone. Here we look at three Indian names who might warm the bench for all three matches.
1) Yashasvi Jaiswal
Yashasvi Jaiswal had an impactful performance in the recently concluded T20I series against Australia. He smashed 138 runs in five outings at an average of 27.60 and a strike-rate of 168.29.
However, he might not get a chance to play in the T20I series as Shubman Gill has returned to the squad. Undoubtedly, Gill will be opening the innings for the visitors. To pair up with him, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the prime-runner.
Gaikwad enjoyed his time with the bat against the Baggy Greens. He ended the series with the most runs and also smashed a blasting century to solidify his chase. However, he bats in a similar fashion to Gill, which might make his selection doubtful.
