Twitter explodes as BCCI sacks entire selection panel including Chetan Sharma

In a major development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sacked the entire national selection committee led by Chetan Sharma. The news broke out on Friday evening and a few minutes later the apex body confirmed it by officially inviting applications for the position of national selectors.

While there were many questions raised on the selection process of the India team after their semifinal exit from the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2022, no one saw such a drastic move coming from the BCCI.

The former head of the national section Panel, Chetan Sharma was facing heavy criticism over many decisions in the last year. The criticism got heavier after India’s shameful 10-wicket loss to England in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

The fans felt many talented and deserving players were overlooked while the selection of the national side. The selection of Deepak Hooda ahead of Sanju Samson in the T20 World Cup squad, the inclusion of Dinesh Karthik, and playing Ravichandran Ashwin over Yuzvendra Chahal are just a few of those.

The national selectors have also continuously overlooked talented players like Rahul Tripathi and Prithvi Shaw who are consistently scoring runs in domestic cricket.

Amid the heavy criticism of Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma, it was imperative that someone is going to take a fall for India’s recent debacle in the T20 World Cup 2022. In the latest development, the BCCI has sacked the panel of national selectors alongside the chairman Chetan Sharma.

On Friday, the BCCI invited the application for the five vacant positions of national selectors (senior men). The BCCI mentioned the eligibility and criteria in the invitation alongside the deadline of 6 PM IST on 28th November 2022.

The fans looked pretty pleased with the BCCI’s decision as they let their feelings known on Twitter.
