“Looking forward to playing hard” – Rahul Chahar sends message to Punjab Kings fans after being retained for IPL 2023

The leg-spinner is committed to doing well for the franchise in the IPL 2023

The leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has sent a message to Punjab Kings fans after being retained for the Indian Premier League 2023. The 23-year-old is one of the best leg-spinners in Indian domestic cricket and he is also now an experienced campaigner in the mega league.

Punjab Kings shuffled their whole squad in the mega auctions for the IPL 2022 and Rahul Chahar was one of their marquee signings as the Mohali-based franchise shelled out INR 5.25 crore to secure the services of the leggie.

The leg-spinner had a decent first season with Punjab Kings as he picked up 14 wickets in 13 matches at an economy rate of 7.71. The franchise has made changes in their team management ahead of the upcoming edition of the IPL.

It was expected that the Kings from Punjab will release several players ahead of the auctions for the next season and they did the same on the expected lines. Among all the retentions, they have also retained their leg-spinner Rahul Chahar for the next season.

The move makes a lot of sense as quality leg spinners are a rare commodity in the shrunk mini-auctions. It would be difficult for Punjab Kings to sign Rahul Chahar back at the discounted price. If not, it would have been more difficult to sign his replacement.

Rahul Chahar thanks Punjab Kings for showing faith in him

The leg-spinner has now sent a message to the fans after being retained. In a video released by the official Twitter account of Punjab Kings, the leggie could be seen thanking fans and team management. He also said that he will try to play his best cricket to help the team in the IPL 2023.

The Rajasthan player performed well in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022 as he bagged 8 wickets in 7 matches at an economy rate of 7.23. He has continued his form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022-23 with 7 wickets in 4 matches so far.

Rahul Chahar will be eager to extend his good form to the IPL 2023 as well to help his team in having a better season and earn a spot back in the Indian team as well.
