IPL 2023: Delhi Capitals (DC) Retained, Released and Traded Players List

Delhi Capitals (DC) were formerly known as “Delhi Daredevils”. They had plenty of top players in their arsenal in the initial years of the IPL but failed to cash in on the chances to better effect. Even as the seasons progressed, there wasn’t any improvisation in their approach, structure or strategy.

They had one thing in common which is firing in a few games and failing to bring the best out of themselves in the rest of the games. As a result, they failed to make an impact in the cash-rich IPL. Although they invested heavily in bringing in top players like AB de Villiers, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, David Warner and others, there was not a thing in terms of the process. As a result, the fans literally lost faith in the team management.

However, once the team owners changed the name to Delhi Capitals, the franchise showed massive signs of improvement. The intriguing project took shape in the best way possible as things slowly started to change for the better. Under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer, Delhi Capitals qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2019 season.

When Shreyas Iyer was ruled out of the subsequent season with an injury, Rishabh Pant took over and did wonders for the team. As a captain, he led the team by example and as a batter he scored runs for the team when it mattered the most. Under his captaincy, Delhi Capitals made it to the finals of IPL 2020 season but lost to Mumbai Indians.

Delhi Capitals qualified for the playoffs in IPL 2021 season by topping the table. However, they couldn’t weave the magic beyond that. In the IPL 2022 season, they failed to qualify for the playoffs as they finished fifth on the table. After a frustrating campaign, they will be looking forward to making a comeback in the next season.

DC will be looking to add new faces in order to bolster their squad. They will submit their retention list on the deadline day i.e. (November 15). Let’s take a look at the list of DC’s retained, released and traded players for IPL 2023.

Delhi Capitals (DC) Traded Players For IPL 2023:

For the unversed, Shardul Thakur has been traded from Delhi Capitals (DC) to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023 season. Meanwhile, DC franchise have taken uncapped Mumbai all-rounder Aman Khan from KKR in their trade for Shardul Thakur.
