3 players Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) might trade ahead of IPL 2023

KKR might trade these players to get players who would fit in the squad.

Kolkata Knight Riders had an average auction ahead of the IPL 2022 and were expected to have a mediocre season compared to the other top teams. However, the two-time champions made an explosive start to the season and their qualification to the playoffs looked like a cakewalk for them.

The Knight Riders, however, lost steam soon after as they slumped to five consecutive defeats. In the end, they finished 7th in the points table. The Men in Purple will be hoping for a better season in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League.

The Kolkata-based franchise needs to clear some space in their squad to bring reinforcements. While they will look to strengthen their squad during the auction for IPL 2023, they might also look to trade a couple of players ahead of the auction. Hence, in this post, we will take a look at the 3 players Kolkata Knight Riders might trade ahead of IPL 2023.

3. Pat Cummins

No one can deny the quality Pat Cummins possesses. In fact, he brings a lot to the table courtesy of his batting prowess. However, the Aussie Test skipper’s primary role is bowling and it’s no secret that his T20 bowling is not as great as his bowling in Test cricket.

Kolkata Knight Riders spent INR 7.25 crore to secure the services of the Aussie pacer in the auction for IPL 2022. However, Pat Cummins was too expensive with the ball as he gave away runs at a very expensive rate of 10.38. KKR cannot afford a bowler with such an expensive economy. Furthermore, he takes an overseas slot.

There are many teams out there who need a wicket-taking pacer with the new ball. Hence, Pat Cummins won’t be short of suitors. In such a case, Kolkata Knight Riders are likely to trade the Aussie pacer in the trading window ahead of IPL 2023.
