Mumbai Indians bowling coach Shane Bond has opened up about why Arjun Tendulkar didn’t feature in Mumbai Indians’ playing XI during the IPL 2022. The five-time champions have a season to forget in the recently-concluded edition of the Indian Premier League. For the first time in fifteen years, the Blues finished at the bottom of the league standings of the mega-league. Mumbai Indians were the first time to get eliminated from the competition this year after managing only four wins out of fourteen matches.

During the course of the season, the Mumbai-based franchise tried everything. They changed the playing positions of the players and also experimented with different playing combinations. Mumbai Indians tried as many as 21 players during the IPL 2022 out of a squad of 24 players. However, Arjun Tendulkar, the son of legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar, still failed to get any game for his team.

For the unversed, Mumbai Indians signed Arjun Tendulkar for an amount of INR 30 lakhs in the mega-auction ahead of the IPL 2022. Unlike his father, Arjun is a left-handed pace-bowling all-rounder. He did look in good rhythm during the net sessions but he still failed to make his debut in the cash-rich league.

Now, Mumbai Indians’ bowling coach Shane Bond has opened up about Arjun Tendulkar’s omission from the playing XI and revealed the reason why the youngster didn’t feature for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2022.

“He has got some work to do,” says Shane Bond about Arjun Tendulkar

In a recent conversation with Sportskeeda, the former Kiwi pacer talked about Arjun Tendulkar. “He’s got some work to do. When you are playing for a team like Mumbai, it’s like one thing to make the squad, but to make the playing eleven is another. He’s still got a lot of development to do. There is a great deal of work to be done. It is one thing to try everyone out to play, but in the end, when you play at this level, there’s that fine line between giving everyone a game but also you have to earn your spot. And he’s still got some work to do on his batting and fielding in particular, and hopefully, he can make those progressions and earn his spot in the team,” said Shane Bond

It was Arjun Tendulkar’s 2nd season with Mumbai Indians and he will hope for an opportunity the next season.
