WATCH: Ishan Kishan runs Mukesh Choudhary out with a brilliant throw to end CSK’s innings
Mumbai Indians’ wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan hasn’t had a good IPL season with the bat. However, in the game against the Chennai Super Kings, the youngster had a fantastic day with the gloves behind the stumps.
In their bid to stay alive in the competition, Chennai Super Kings square off against their arch-rivals Mumbai Indians in the 59th game of the IPL 2022 on Thursday night. It was a must-win game for the defending champions, while Rohit Sharma & co. were playing for their pride.
Mumbai Indians’ skipper Rohit Sharma won the coin-flip and invited MS Dhoni and his men to bat first. Rohit’s bowlers proved his decision right with a fiery opening spell of the fast bowling and dismantled CSK‘s top order with the swing and the pace.
They reduced the four-time champions to 39-6 in the 8th over and a score of a hundred runs looked too much at that moment. However, CSK’s skipper MS Dhoni brought back some sanity to the batting and kept moving things from the one end. His efforts weren’t enough as he kept losing wickets on the other end.
After losing the 9th wicket, MSD decided to keep the strike to himself and started to refuse singles early in the overs. He dragged CSK closer to the century but he was eyeing a respectable total by playing all 20 overs.
Ishan Kishan’s magnificent direct hit ends CSK’s innings
On the final delivery of the 16th over, Riley Meredith delivered a bouncer to Dhoni. Mahi missed the shot but decided to steal a quick bye off Ishan Kishan’s gloves to keep the strike to himself in the next over.
The left-handed southpaw was alert to the situation and he launched a brilliant direct throw to run Mukesh Choudhary out with his gloves on to end CSK’s troubles.
