“Chin-up” – Ravi Shastri breaks silence after BCCI axe Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from central contracts
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were not included in the 30-player annual retainership list for the 2023-24 season.
Former Team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri expressed his honest views after the BCCI terminated Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan’s central contracts for the 2023-24 season. The BCCI made its stance quite clear that any player who fails to act on board’s directive shall face severe repercussions.
Yesterday, the richest cricket board took a bold call by not including Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan in the senior players’ list for this round of recommendations. The duo were instructed to participate in domestic cricket and honour their commitments to their respective state teams.
However, that wasn’t meant to be as both players ignored the board’s directive to feature in the Ranji Trophy. Rightly so, the BCCI took a strict call by overlooking them in the 30-player annual retainership list for the 2023-24 season.
After this development, Ravi Shastri chipped in with sharp message to Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. The Indian commentator took to his official X handle and then gave a word of advice to the Indian duo. He asked them to come back even stronger.
“In the game of cricket, comebacks define the spirit. Chin-up, @ShreyasIyer15 and @ishankishan51! Dig deep, face challenges, and come back even stronger. Your past achievements speak volumes, and I have no doubt you’ll conquer once again,” Ravi Shastri added.
