“Chin-up” – Ravi Shastri breaks silence after BCCI axe Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan from central contracts

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were not included in the 30-player annual retainership list for the 2023-24 season.

Former Team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri expressed his honest views after the BCCI terminated Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan’s central contracts for the 2023-24 season. The BCCI made its stance quite clear that any player who fails to act on board’s directive shall face severe repercussions.

Yesterday, the richest cricket board took a bold call by not including Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan in the senior players’ list for this round of recommendations. The duo were instructed to participate in domestic cricket and honour their commitments to their respective state teams.

However, that wasn’t meant to be as both players ignored the board’s directive to feature in the Ranji Trophy. Rightly so, the BCCI took a strict call by overlooking them in the 30-player annual retainership list for the 2023-24 season.

After this development, Ravi Shastri chipped in with sharp message to Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. The Indian commentator took to his official X handle and then gave a word of advice to the Indian duo. He asked them to come back even stronger.

“In the game of cricket, comebacks define the spirit. Chin-up, @ShreyasIyer15 and @ishankishan51! Dig deep, face challenges, and come back even stronger. Your past achievements speak volumes, and I have no doubt you’ll conquer once again,” Ravi Shastri added.

Ravi Shastri salutes BCCI for game-changing move with fast-bowling contracts

Ravi Shastri reserved the highest respect for Jay Shah and BCCI for the game-changing move with fast-bowling contracts. Akash Deep, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal and Vidwath Kaverappa have been picked by the selection committee to be included in the fast bowling contract list.

“Big applause to @BCCI and @JayShah for the game-changing move with ‘fast bowling’ contracts. A crucial step in gearing up for Down Under later this year. The emphasis on Test Cricket and Domestic Cricket is a powerful message, setting the right tone for the future of our beloved sport!” Ravi Shastri mentioned in his post.
