Prithvi Shaw to miss rest of the IPL season, coach Ricky Ponting confirms

Delhi Capitals have been dealt a back-breaking blow in the latest developments as their opener Prithvi Shaw has been ruled out of the remainder of the IPL season.

The young, explosive opener missed the last couple of games for the Delhi-based franchise due to fever. So when Rishabh Pant came out for the toss against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday night, everybody wanted an update on Prithvi Shaw’s availability. However, Rishabh Pant didn’t put any update on Shaw’s health.

For the unversed, Shaw uploaded an Instagram story with a picture of him on the hospital bed a couple of days ago. However, the pocket dynamite also added that he is recovering well and will be back soon.

On Wednesday, Delhi Capitals are up against Rajasthan Royals in a vital game in the playoffs race. Once again, the Capital-based franchise entered the arena without their regular opener, Prithvi Shaw, as Srikar Bharat got the chance to wear the team jersey.

Delhi Capitals coach and the legendary batter Ricky Ponting has ended speculations regarding the Mumbai-born opener. The Aussie has ruled Shaw out of the remainder of the IPL.

During the game against the Royals, the commentator asked Ricky Ponting about Delhi’s struggles this season. In his reply, the Aussie legend confirmed that Shaw had been ruled out of IPL 2022. Meanwhile, Khaleel Ahmed also missed the game against Rajasthan Royals after picking up a hamstring injury, and that’s why he didn’t feature on Wednesday.

Prithvi Shaw’s injury will come as a major blow for Delhi Capitals in their quest to qualify for the playoffs. This season, the right-hander was in superb form as he amassed 259 runs in 9 games at a strike rate of almost 160.

Moreover, no other batter hasn’t been able to impress in his absence as Mandeep Singh and Srikar Bharat have failed to take their chances so far.
