5 big names who might be retained for Rs 20 crore ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction
With the IPL 2025 mega auction less than a day away from getting underway, all 10 franchises are gearing up to unveil their lists of retained and released players by October 31. Meanwhile, each team can secure up to six players to make sure that least one spot is reserved for an uncapped Indian talent.
Meanwhile, the deadline has sparked intense speculation, particularly as some of the biggest names like KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant could be heading into the auction pool. With that being the case, it would set the stage for aggressive retention strategies and the teams would be prepared to offer lucrative deals to keep marquee players from slipping through their fingers.
As the deadline approaches, the cricket fraternity is curious to see which star players remain loyal to their franchises and which could become the most sought-after names in the IPL 2025 auction. In this article, let’s take a glimpse at the five big players who might be retained for INR 20 crore ahead of the auction.
1. Virat Kohli
Former RCB captain Virat Kohli has been one of the vital components of Royal Challengers Bangalore history. He has been a part of the franchise since the inception of the IPL in 2008. Since then, he went on to become the leading run-getter in the tournament.
He is one of the players who could break the record books by getting retained for INR 20 crore. For the unversed, Virat Kohli was retained for INR 18 crore in the 2018 mega auction. It is a huge possibility that RCB might even reward him with an enhanced deal this time around.
Having been a part of IPL since 2008, Virat Kohli scored 8004 runs at an average of 38.7, including eight centuries and 55 fifties and maintained a strike-rate of 132.
