ZIM vs IND 2024: India’s predicted XI for Zimbabwe T20Is
The series will get underway on Friday, July 5.
Team India recently defeated South Africa by 7 runs to win their second T20 World Cup title. Now, the attention turns towards the upcoming five-match T20I series between India and Zimbabwe. India will fly to Zimbabwe to play the shortest format, with Shubman Gill leading the team from the front.
Following the T20 World Cup 2024, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20Is. On the other hand, the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, who took part in the T20 World Cup 2024, will be given a rest.
Riyan Parag, Abhishek Sharma, and Nitish Reddy have been rewarded for their impressive performances in the IPL 2024 season with their maiden call-ups to the Indian team. Openers: Shubman Gill (c), Abhishek Sharma
Shubman Gill will lead the troops from the front in the forthcoming T20I series against the Zimbabwe. He has a touch of leadership experience in his resume. Gill led Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024 season. Besides that, he also served as the vice-captain of India’s U-19 team that won the 2018 U-19 Cricket World Cup.
He is going to lead the Indian cricket team for the first time. The youngster is expected to pick lessons on the go, which will only help him to get better over time. Apart from Gill, Abhishek Sharma is one of the bright young prospects to watch out for in the upcoming T20I series.
The 22-year-old lad was rewarded for his stellar batting exploits in the previous edition of the IPL. The aggressive left-hander will be looking forward to justifying his selection right by letting his performances do the talking in the series.
