Dunith Wellalage recently made headlines for dismantling the entire Indian batting line-up single-handedly in the Asia Cup 2023. The 20-year-old spinner took wickets of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul to register his first fifer.

Leading the Sri Lankan side in the U19 World Cup 2022, he smashed a century and ended the tournament as the leading wicket-taker. He picked up 17 wickets, which helped him earn an IPL contract.

Wellalage has played 15 ODIs so far, picking up 19 scalps at an economy of 5.18. In the absense of star spinner Wanindu Hasaranga, his role is going to be vital on the Indian spin-friendly pitches.
