In the game between Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad, a pacy delivery from Umran Malik injured Mayank Agarwal badly. On Sunday, Punjab Kings were up against the former champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final league game of the IPL 2022 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. While this game had no significance in the context of the tournament, it still was no shortage of drama.
Kane Williamson was absent in this game and Bhuvneshwar Kumar was leading the Orange Army on the night. Bhuvi won the toss and asked Mayank Agarwal & Co. to bowl first. The Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to post a par total of 157/8 in 20 overs courtesy of some useful knocks from Abhishek Sharma, Washington Sundar, and Romario Shepherd.
Chasing the total, Punjab Kings came out all guns blazing and made an explosive start. However, they also lost quick wickets in their quest to keep blasting their way to complete the chase.
Mayank Agarwal fails to handle Umran Malik’s pace and gets injured badly
The express pacer came to bowl the 7th over Punjab Kings’ innings and clinched the wicket of Shahrukh Khan straightaway. PBKS’ skipper Mayank Agarwal walked out to bat next at number four but Umran Malik delivered a nasty short bowl towards the batter’s body.
Agarwal tried to tuck it away towards the leg side but failed and endured a blow to the ribs. It was a nasty blow and Mayank was down on the floor screaming in the pain. The match had to stop for a while as the batter received the treatment.

Meanwhile, riding on Liam Livingstone‘s knock, Punjab Kings completed the chase with 29 balls to spare and 5 wickets in hand. In the end, the Mohali-based franchise finished 6th in the points table with seven wins and seven losses after 14 matches.
