In the ongoing English county championship, the cricket fans witnessed two heavyweights of the English cricket go toe-to-toe as Yorkshire faced Lancashire. In this game, the veteran pacer James Anderson removed the former England skipper Joe Root with a peach of an inswinger.

English Test cricket is currently going through a transition phase after the resignation of Joe Root from the Test captaincy. Moreover, the ECB has appointed the former New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Brendon McCullum as the new head coach of the England Test team. Meanwhile, the dynamic all-rounder Ben Stokes has been handed over the captaincy.

Following a humiliating defeat in the Ashes, the selectors dropped the pace bowling duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad from the Test series against West Indies, keeping the future in mind. However, the move didn’t work out as the Caribbean side managed to emerge victorious against the English Test team. Meanwhile, Joe Root kept piling up runs for his team single-handedly with almost no support from the other batters.

In the ongoing County Championship, James Anderson is determined to make a statement that there is still no better pacer than him in the country. At the same time, Joe Root is scoring runs for fun despite leaving the national captaincy.
