This is what separates a good player from the great one. Despite being under a lot of pressure, the former India skipper Virat Kohli delivered when it mattered the most. He scored a beautiful half-century in the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan to take India to a fighting total. His knock came at a crucial time as India’s innings lost steam at a point in time after getting a brilliant start.
On Sunday, India are up against Pakistan in the Super 4 contest at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Pakistan skipper Babar Azam won the vital toss and invited the opposition to bat first. However, the Indian openers came all guns blazing as India skipper Rohit Sharma alongside KL Rahul added 54 runs off 31 deliveries for the first wicket.
However, India lost Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in quick succession. Virat Kohli kept one end intact with his positive approach but kept losing partners on the other end.
Virat Kohli roars back to form with a classy knock
India were in a spot of bother when India lost Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya in quick succession as the Men in Blue were reduced to 131/5 in the 15th over. Meanwhile, the run machine took the responsibility to shore up the Indian innings and stitched a vital partnership of 37 runs with Deepak Hooda to take India closer to the fighting total.
In the end, Virat Kohli finished with 60 runs off 44 deliveries, including four boundaries and one maximum before getting out. At the same time, the young leggie Ravi Bishnoi smashed two boundaries on the last two deliveries and helped India in posting a decent total of 181/7 in 20 overs at a batting wicket.
