Team India’s record in ICC events has been a string of disappointments. Under Virat Kohli’s supervision, the Men in Blue are yet to win an ICC event. India lost to Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final. After that, Team India lost to New Zealand in the ICC ODI World Cup semi-final.
Both these teams once again met each other in ICC World Test Championship Final. However, the Kiwis once again outsmarted the Indians. Ravi Shastri’s tenure as a head coach comes to an end after the T20 World Cup 2021.
The showpiece event will be staged in the UAE from October 17. Ahead of the marquee event, many top teams have been experimenting with the available players in their squad. Players have been given ample time to showcase their mettle and the best ones might be picked for the World Cup.

There is absolutely no doubt that Rohit Sharma will open the innings for India in the T20 World Cup. Although Shikhar Dhawan lost his place in ODI and Test set-up, he has shown his potential when it comes to the truncated version of the game.
Rohit and Dhawan would dominate the proceedings. Indian captain Virat Kohli would come at No.3 to channelise the aggression. Suryakumar Yadav secured his place in T20Is with his recent form in the T20I series against England and Sri Lanka. Even Ishan Kishan made his presence count in the recent T20I against England.
The team also boasts attacking players like KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant. Hardik Pandya is indeed a big asset to India, especially in T20Is. He has incredible potential to score runs at the rate of knots. Besides that, he can be a handy bowler for India if the situation arises.
Ravindra Jadeja is arguably the best fielder in the world. He is a livewire on the field. Moreover, he has improved his batting technique to a great extent. He can also help the team in the bowling unit. Shardul Thakur could bring a lot of quality with the bat as well.
Yuzvendra Chahal will be leading the spin attack while Washington Sundar deserves an honourable mention for what he has done so far. Team India have plenty of incredible pacers. The pace bowling unit includes the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Deepak Chahar, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shardul Thakur.
