T20 World Cup 2021: Ishan Kishan should open the innings alongside Rohit Sharma, says Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh picked Shardul Thakur ahead of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Indian national cricket team played two warm-up games ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. They successfully defeated England and Australia without any fuss. But they were left clueless when they took on the Pakistan cricket team.

Now, the Indians are wary of their current form in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021. Indian openers namely Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul departed for 0 and 3 respectively. Team India didn’t fully recover from a top-order collapse and went on to post 151 runs on the board.

Indian bowlers ran out of tricks to outsmart Pakistan batsmen. Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam added a record 152-run opening partnership to steer the team to a victory. Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets in Dubai.

Now, India are sincerely preparing for the upcoming clash against New Zealand. The match will kick off at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai on October 31, Sunday. Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh chipped in with his own opinion about the opening combination in the ongoing event.

KL Rahul can bat at 4: Harbhajan Singh

Veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh said Ishan Kishan has to open the batting with Rohit Sharma in the tournament. The Turbanator said Lokesh Rahul should bat at No.4 as it would make Team India’s top four a brawny unit.

“I have been saying for a long time, it’s high time, Ishan Kishan needs to get a game. He should open with Rohit Sharma, Kohli comes in at No.3 and KL can bat at 4. This will be a very, very solid batting lineup till No.4,” said Harbhajan on India Today.

Harbhajan Singh said Hardik Pandya should play at No.5 if he is fit else Suryakumar Yadav should play at that spot. “At No.5, Rishabh Pant can come and at six, Hardik if he is available. If he is ok I would still be playing because he is a match-winner for team India.

If he is not fit then Suryakumar Yadav plays at No.5, Rishabh at six and (Ravindra) Jadeja at seven. At No.8, Shardul Thakur. He can bat, bowl and field, he has been performing really well.

He just won a championship with CSK, riding high on confidence and we should look to utilise his confidence. Bumrah, Varun Chakravarthy and Shami will be the next three,” he added.
